Custom Carpentry, Cabinetry & Finish Work in Plano, TX

Innovations Carpentry serves Plano, TX with custom carpentry, cabinetry, finish and trim work, stairs, millwork, and door work for homes across the city. Plano is one of the busiest parts of our service area: the mix of newer master-planned communities on the west side, larger custom estates, and the older neighborhoods around downtown means we see nearly every kind of carpentry project here, often more than one a week.

Our shop sits south in Arlington, but Plano is inside our regular delivery and install loop. Most projects are pre-built in the shop and delivered, which keeps build time and dust in your home to a minimum. For Plano clients juggling work-from-home schedules and busy household routines, that shop-build-first approach is usually the deciding factor. The most common Plano projects we take on are full kitchen and primary-closet rebuilds, mudroom and pantry buildouts, built-in office walls, and statement stair upgrades on the two-story floor plans that dominate the area.

Our carpentry services in Plano, TX include:

  • Custom Carpentry — built-ins, library walls, home-office walls, mudroom lockers, and pantry shelving built to the room.
  • Custom Cabinets — kitchen, bath, garage, home-office, entertainment, and laundry cabinetry built and installed to fit the space.
  • Finish & Trim Carpentry — crown molding, wainscoting, baseboards, window and door trim, fireplace mantels, and decorative ceiling beams.
  • Stair Work — custom stair installs, tread and riser replacement, handrails and balusters, and curved or returned geometry.
  • Millwork — custom moldings, paneling, coffered ceilings, fireplace surrounds, and architectural millwork.
  • Doors & Windows — custom door fabrication and interior door and window trim.

A Brief History of Plano, TX

Settlers reached the area now called Plano in the early 1840s, and a sawmill, a gristmill, and a store soon drew more people to the prairie north of the Trinity. After rejecting several names, including one honoring President Millard Fillmore, residents chose Plano, from the Spanish word for “flat,” in reference to the level terrain. The completion of the Houston and Central Texas Railway in 1872 spurred the town’s growth, and Plano was incorporated in 1873.

Through the late twentieth century Plano transformed from a farming town into one of the country’s most prominent suburbs, drawing corporate headquarters including Toyota Motor North America at Legacy West, Frito-Lay, and JCPenney. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Plano reached a population of 285,494 in 2020, making it the ninth-most populous city in Texas. Located mostly in Collin County about twenty miles north of downtown Dallas, Plano is a principal city of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area.

East Plano (75074, 75094) runs east of Central Expressway toward Murphy and the eastern edge of the city, mixing established neighborhoods with commercial corridors and the downtown Plano DART station. The housing here skews older, where trim restoration and built-in work in existing homes is common.

Innovations Carpentry provides its full range of carpentry, cabinetry, finish, stair, and millwork services across each of these Plano ZIP codes.

Why Work With Innovations Carpentry in Plano, TX

Plano homeowners tend to invest in carpentry that becomes part of the house permanently, and they expect work that holds up over time and looks intentional in context. We build to that standard. We are a workshop, not a sub-contractor pass-through or a big-box installer, and we run our projects like a workshop should: shop pre-fabrication, the same crew from quote to install, and a finish that fits the home.

Beyond Plano, we also serve nearby communities including Allen, Richardson, and Frisco. See our full service area for every city we cover.
