Custom Carpentry, Cabinetry & Finish Work in Richardson, TX
Innovations Carpentry serves Richardson, TX with custom carpentry, cabinetry, finish and trim work, stairs, millwork, and door work for homes across the city. Richardson splits between its mid-century neighborhoods near the original core and the newer development around CityLine and the Bush Turnpike, so we see everything from trim and stair work in established homes to full built-in and cabinetry projects in newer ones.
Our shop sits south in Arlington, but Richardson is inside our regular delivery and install loop. Most projects are pre-built in the shop and delivered, which keeps build time and dust in your home to a minimum. The most common Richardson projects we take on are kitchen and closet rebuilds, library and office built-ins, mudroom systems, and stair upgrades.
Our carpentry services in Richardson, TX include:
- Custom Carpentry — built-ins, closets, home-office walls, mudroom lockers, and pantry shelving built to the room.
- Custom Cabinets — kitchen, bath, and storage cabinetry built and installed to fit the space.
- Finish & Trim Carpentry — crown molding, baseboards, casing, wainscoting, and trim detail.

Richardson Homes and the Carpentry They Call For
Richardson is two housing stories in one city: the 1950s to 1970s ranch and traditional homes around the original core, and the newer construction out toward CityLine and the north. Each needs a different kind of carpentry, and we do both.
Mid-century homes (Canyon Creek, Prairie Creek, Richardson Heights, Cottonwood Heights). The ranch homes here were built well but built dated. We modernize them without stripping their character: reworked and refaced kitchen and bath cabinetry, new built-ins and closet systems, and updated trim, casing, and doors that bring a mid-century interior current.
Home offices and studies. With the Telecom Corridor and UT Dallas nearby, a lot of Richardson work is built-in home offices, libraries, and study walls for people who work from home and want it done properly, not with store-bought furniture.
Newer construction (the developments toward CityLine and north Richardson). On newer Richardson homes we finish out what builders leave plain: custom closets, media and fireplace walls, mudrooms, pantry systems, and upgraded cabinetry and trim.
Our shop is in Arlington, a straight run down the tollway and 635, so Richardson is well inside our regular install area, and you work with the same crew from measurement to final coat.
History of Richardson Neighborhoods
Richardson took shape as a farming community along the Houston and Texas Central Railway and was named in 1873. It stayed a small agricultural town for decades and was incorporated in 1925. Richardson’s modern identity formed in the second half of the twentieth century, when electronics and telecommunications companies clustered along the U.S. 75 corridor and gave the area its lasting nickname, the Telecom Corridor.
The University of Texas at Dallas, founded in Richardson in the 1960s, anchored that growth and continues to expand today. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Richardson reached a population of 119,469 in 2020. Straddling both Dallas and Collin counties about fifteen miles north of downtown Dallas, Richardson is one of the inner-ring cities of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area.

Why Work With Innovations Carpentry in Richardson, TX
Richardson homeowners range from owners of mid-century homes who want careful trim and stair work to families in newer CityLine-area construction finishing out custom interiors, and both expect work that holds up and looks intentional. We are a workshop, not a sub-contractor pass-through or a big-box installer, and we run our projects like a workshop should: shop pre-fabrication, the same crew from quote to install, and a finish that fits the home.
